| PORTALS
“Web portal” is a
generic term used to define a website that performs
multiple duties. Yahoo and AOL are examples of consumer
portals. Miranet’s expertise lies with business
portals, which provide multiple services. These portals
generally are intranets and extranets, through which
customers, suppliers, employees and partners are provided
with access to a company’s information and applications.
Miranet has been providing commercially created portal
software, custom-developed portals, and open source
portals for over five years. Our oldest system is still
in operation today at Pycon. As a result, we bring a
great deal of experience to the complex task of evaluating
requirements, applying the right amount of technology
to solving the business need, and then integrating the
resulting web-applications into the company legacy systems.
Our comprehensive design and implementation process
includes the following steps:
Company Portal Requirements Assessment
We will review, with you, the most urgent implementation
requirements to maximize the Return on Investment.
Technology Solution Evaluations
Our analysts will review existing solutions from our
library of previous implementations, commercially
available solutions, and programs available in the
open source community to determine the right mix for
your specific requirements.
Development and Evolution of Portal Systems
Many of our most successful implementations, such
as SATO-America, were an evolutionary development
rather than a big bang implementation. We continue
to work with our clients to fine-tune previous implementations
and then go on to the next business pain-point. Slowly,
over time, we help your business get the most from
your web investment.
Back-end Integration with Business Support, Accounting,
and ERP systems
To be truly effective, a website needs to communicate
back and forth to the legacy applications that now
run your company. We ensure that communications is
accomplished in the most effective way available.
