WEBSITE CONTENT MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE
CommonSpot Content Management Systems by Paper Thin Corporation
CommonSpot Content Server is a full-featured content management solution; thus offering organizations everything they need to support their Internet, intranet and extranet sites. Their award-winning solution is reasonably priced, quick to implement, easy to use, customizable and scalable. CommonSpot emphasizes sophisticated, yet simple and easy-to-use functionality. Developers enjoy the seamless integration of ColdFusion applications while business users, weary of having to learn HTML, can still create presentation rich, timely, and targeted communications.
Rapid Implementation: CommonSpot's out-of-the-box functionality dramatically shortens the time to market for your strategic web applications. An intuitive wizard interface and role-based views guide users through creating, updating, publishing, scheduling and personalizing content. It is not necessary to commit resources to weeks of technical training. Business users can be productive immediately and participate in the workflow process.
Easy to Use: A completely browser-based solution, CommonSpot enables content owners to access and manage content through their web browser. There is no client software to install and maintain or complex scripting to worry about.
Authoring and publishing is done within the context of the page. It is not necessary to navigate to separate applications or to submit content through a complex content entry process. Context sensitive wizards for each specific element are presented to guide the user in submitting content, managing layout and font attributes, and securing access.
Easy to Integrate: CommonSpot is a 100% ColdFusion application. Its open architecture allows you to seamlessly extend and enhance functionality and to integrate external data sources and other ColdFusion applications.
Effective Control: CommonSpot's template driven architecture enables Webmasters to implement a consistent look and feel across the site.
Content is managed separately from layout, font, and color properties. Empowered authors can freely add new content, yet be bound to the design attributes previously defined, thus ensuring that the overall design integrity for the site is maintained.
CommonSpot's multi-level, granular security system lets you manage a user's roles and permissions as well as view rights at the site, page, element, and template level.
StyleSheets: are managed within CommonSpot and can easily be applied to any page to make the entire site consistent. Content only needs to be updated once, and can be reused in any page (For example, new press releases only need to be managed in one place, pages that share that data element will automatically be updated when the new press releases are added). The program provides real time reports for broken links.
We can easily enhance the behavior/functionality of any section of CommonSpot using custom coldfusion modules and renderers.
Multilingual Support: When content has been updated for the English version, the user will be prompted to make the change to the other language version of the page. They can at that point decide to publish their change, or to wait until the other language content has been changed.
Also, we can define a work flow to have the person responsible for content translation to be automatically notified that then need to translate content.
Improved Site Search: A fully customizable full-text index search will be implemented using CommonSpot. We will use the tools provided in the program to create a simple and advanced search. The search will not only search the text on the page, but the meta data created when the page was created within CommonSpot.
Openness: CommonSpot has the built-in capability to interact with any odbc datasource. It also uses any ODBC database (like SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL) to use as its data storage. Getting information into and out of the CommonSpot can be done with any tool that supports the industry standard ODBC protocols. Also, since CommonSpot is written in ColdFusion. Since ColdFusion is an industry standard, we can modify the behavior of how any information is displayed, rendered or modified.
508 accessibility: Each page will be automatically required to have all the elements of 508 accessibility, ranging from table header descriptions, alt tags, title tags etc. Each base template of each sub-site will have the button to automatically generate a text-only version of any page a user can access.
Permission Based Content Authoring: Permissions for each user inside CommonSpot can be created per user or per group of users. Each separate group or user can have their own individual permissions assigned at a feature by feature level.
Version Control and Backward Revisions: Each change made to a page, template, data element is tracked and can be reverted back to an older version at any time. Pages are also locked or "checked out" by a CMS user if they are working on them. Administrators can override these locks.
Automated Document Conversion to HTML: Users can automatically select a PDF or Word doc to be used as the element to embed into a page. That document is automatically converted into HTML with the proper formatted. This is a key requirement for Section 508 accessibility. If any formatting is needed, a GUI editor similar to Word can be used (inside the browser). Complex layout tasks are done by the use of simplified wizard interfaces.
